Tottenham, and Everton battling it out for Championship sensation

Alex Scott

Tottenham Hotspur are actively looking to carry out business in the summer transfer market. Spurs secured a top-four finish ahead of Arsenal earning them Champions League football. As a result, Tottenham are ready to back Antonio Conte in the transfer market with necessary signings. Bristol City’s Alex Scott is now on Tottenham’s radar after the youngster impressed with the Championship side. Scott has emerged as a sensational talent after his breakthrough season with Bristol. Moreover, Everton are in contention to acquire the Bristol talent as well along with Tottenham.

According to Football Insider, Tottenham are closely following the Championship player. The report further claims that Spurs even sent their scouts to watch the 18-year-old in action for Bristol City. The scouts are reportedly more than impressed with Scott and have conveyed the club to pursue him. However, Tottenham have Everton as their competitor for the teenager’s signature. Everton avoided the relegation this season and now wants to help their manager Frank Lampard bolster the squad in the summer. Tottenham however will make a final decision on signing Scoot after a close review of reports from the scouts.

Tottenham could be locked in a battle with Everton for Scott

Spurs are currently trying to close many deals for the summer. The North Londoners are in a pole position to sign Inter winger Ivan Perisic who will be a free agent by the summer. Though the deal is yet to be complete, reports are positive that Perisic is on his way to Tottenham. Alex Scott is high on their priority list too, but Spurs want to make sure they are placing their bet right. As a result, Tottenham are preparing a final review and analysis on Scott before making a formal approach.

Bristol City have reportedly anticipated that there will be bids for their talented player in the summer. However, to ensure that they get something out of Scott’s departure the Championship side locked him down to a new contract back in August last year. The 18-year-old’s current deal now runs till the summer of 2025. Scott is an academy graduate of Bristol City who has now cemented his place in the first team.

The teenager mainly operates as a right-midfielder but can play in certain attacking midfield positions as well. Scott has played 38 league games for Bristol this season, starting 35 times in those. The midfielder has 4 goals and 2 assists to show for those 38 appearances. Scott thus holds a lot of appeal to Tottenham and Everton and is on their shortlists for the next season. Moreover, born in the Channel Island of Guernsey, many dub Scott as the ‘Guernsey Grealish’ due to his playing style and looks which resemble the Manchester City star.

Former Tottenham manager, and now an advisor to the club David Pleat is tracking the Bristol player. Pleat is using his vast network to get an insight into Scott’s character and background in order to make sure he fits the club’s system. Further on, Leicester City have reportedly shown interest as well in Scott along with Tottenham and Everton.
