ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE

This PSV Eindhoven virtuoso is heavily linked to Aston Villa

About Football Express UK

An abundant number of central midfielders have been linked to Aston Villa in this current transfer market.

PSV Eindhoven’s Ibrahima Sangare is one of those players who is projected to join the English side this season.

Steven Gerrard has already added a defensive midfielder to their side in the likes of Boubacar Kamara as a free transfer.

However, it is known that the Liverpool legend is scouting the market for a central midfielder. Therefore, Sangare’s role perfectly fits that description.

There have been reports that Sangare is not interested in leaving PSV this season. However, still, journalist Josh Holland thinks otherwise.

He gave a statement to GiveMeSport:

I’ve been thinking and there are a few midfielders who I think Villa could go for. I know that Sangaré and PSV keeps on getting mentioned, and he’s got a release clause of £35m.”

Sangare’s scintillating form for PSV last season would surely excite the Villa fans if he makes a move to the club.

The Ivory Coast international featured in 29 games for PSV last season. In those matches, he scored three goals and provided three assists.

If signed, can Sangare prove his worth at Aston Villa?

Questions are raised as the Premier League is a more competitive league and compared to its standards, Sangare’s level is average.

However, it is still believed if he could recreate his form from last season, he could still turn out to be the top performer for Villa last season.

Whoscored calculates his tackles per game as 3.3. This was far more than any Villa player reached last season.

Moreover, this would also mean he could bring some defensive prowess to the midfield as well.

Whoscored reports that the midfielder’s pros are interceptions, tackling, passing, aerially robust, and the ability to block the ball.

These qualities highlight him as a central midfielder.

He is bound to add much quality to Gerrard’s side, this season if he is signed.
