Tim Sherwood thinks that Unai Emery’s introduction of Youri Tielemans against Spurs was surpassed Ange Postecoglou’s efforts.
Emery attempted to alter the game by substituting Youri Tielemans and Leon Bailey. Although in the end, it was quite successful as Ollie Watkins scored a well-earned victory.
Thus far Villa confirmed the top after match day 13. Now they have 28 points, 2 points behind Arsenal who are leading the table.
While Tottenham is standing 5th on board. Its a little much disgrace, as the Postecoglou’s side was the top contender of the Premier table till match day 10.
Tim Sherwood claims that Youri Tielemans was the key
Forrmer Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood believed that Tielemans made the largest impact.
He said: “Spurs should have been out of sight after the first half. Spurs fans are liking what they’re seeing but results need to marry up with that and they’re not at the moment because of the injuries and suspensions. The better squad won today, that was won by the manager and from the bench – Tielemans was all the difference,”
Sherwood is correct when he says that Villa’s changes were the game’s deciding factor. After their quick start, Tottenham’s thinly manned team was unable to maintain the same pace and eventually ran out of system.
It is always going to be a great advantage to have a player like Tielemans off the bench. Teams were naturally drawn to him in the summer because he is a great act.
Although Tielemans’ contribution to Villa has not been as significant as it could have been, his arrival was justified by the poise and grace with which he approached the match today.
With guys like him on the sidelines, Villa appears to be a strong contender for the top four right now, which makes sense.
