Sevilla defender Jules Koundé has confirmed that he would be leaving the Spanish club this summer amid links with Chelsea.
The Blues are on the lookout for defenders in the transfer market and have shown heavy interest in the Sevilla ace. Moreover, Chelsea are not the only club in contention to sign the marksman in the transfer window.
Catalan giants FC Barcelona are also in the mix to sign Koundé from Sevilla this summer. The Blaugrana outfit have also told the player to ‘wait’ for them to make an official offer to the rival club.
Koundé confirms exit amid Chelsea links
While an exit appears to be on the horizon, Koundé has been left out of Sevilla’s pre-season tour to Portugal. The defender has accepted that he will be leaving the club and is keen on an exit this summer.
In the midst of the transfer links, one fan approached the player and wished him luck for his future. The fan said-
“Good luck wherever you go, have a great time.”
Koundé appeared to be smiling and reacted by saying-
“Thank you”.
Koundé has been a very important player in the backline for Sevilla during his stint with the Spanish club. Barcelona and Chelsea will hope he continues his form and the beautiful run he maintains on the pitch for them.
However, the Catalan giants have activated the second lever which could make the transfer slightly easier to go through. That said, the player is listening to offers from both parties and will evaluate them soon.
Moreover, it appears as though a move could take place in the coming hours/days as the transfer seems to be pacing up. It remains to be seen if Koundé picks Chelsea over the Blaugrana outfit ahead of the next season.
