Szoboszlai disagree with Medical Team after Missing Carabao Cup Final


Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai has revealed that he was left out of the Carabao Cup final squad following a decision from the medical team.

After picking up a muscle injury, the midfielder has been out of Liverpool since January. Szoboszlai returned from the hamstring problem he suffered on New Year’s Day against Newcastle United. Szoboszlai was one of the senior players who was out injured in the league cup final on Sunday.

Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, Allison, and Trent Alexander Arnold were some players who were injured. Liverpool left to play their academy player as a substitute. Youngsters Jayden Danns, Lewis Koumas and Trey Nyoni were on the bench.

“I would have played if it was down to me” revealed Dominik Szoboszlai

Szobszlai admfitted that he was with the Liverpool medical staff and if it was down to him, he would have made himself available to play against Chelsea at Wembley. Liverpool won the match with the help of an extra-time winner by Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk.

Speaking with Hungarian TV, he said,

They (the medical team) are careful with me. If it were up to me, I would play (today). I hate it. I hate not playing, I had a lot of disagreements with the doctors.

Liverpool’s assistant manager Pep Lijnders on Friday said that

“We come in a crazy schedule again, so we play every three days. It’s important for us to use each minute, use each day to really look how the players are. This is for Mo, Dom and Darwin.

“Two training sessions to go, let’s see how they are and then we can make a decision in the last minute. And all the others, we know it’s longer. Ali has a muscle injury. Trent, LCL. Jota, medial ligament, MCL. Curtis [has] a high ankle sprain. They will be longer out
