Raheem Sterling along with his national teammate Jordan Henderson and Crystal Palace head coach Roy Hodgson have been honoured in the Queen’s Birthday list. The two players have been honoured with MBE whereas the tactician has been honoured with a CBE.

However, Harry Kane and Marcus Rashford have also been awarded this honour. England began their preparations for a crunch match against Croatia and all eyes would be on Harry Kane, the skipper.

Additionally, Hodgson, honoured with an CBE, might be reportedly leaving Crystal Palace job next season.

Sterling and Henderson MBE as well as Hodgson CBE

Member of the Order of the British Empire or MBE is the third highest ranking order for one’s service towards England. Above which is the Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) and then first is the Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE).

As a result of his willingness to fight against racism in sport, Raheem Sterling has been honoured with an MBE. Similarly, Jordan Henderson had been honoured with an MBE for his services towards football and charity, especially during the pandemic.

Whereas, Roy Hodgson has been honoured with CBE for his services in football. He had been in England since 2007 managing the teams such as Fulham, Liverpool, West Bromwich Albion, England national team, U-21 England national team and then, currently, Crystal Palace. He also had managing stints at various other clubs like Inter Milan as well as in clubs like Bristol City and Blackburn Rovers.

But, it would be a shock for the Eagles as their manager is set to depart after four years. Following his departure, he said,

“It is a dangerous thing to start making bold statements about retirement and this is the end of me.”

Sterling and Henderson have a huge opportunity in the form of Euro 2020. They face the 2018 World Cup runner-up Croatia on Sunday.
