Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has provided a positive Paul Pogba update amid París Saint-Germain transfer links.
The Frenchman is currently spending his time on holiday, following the involvement with the national squad in Euro 2020. The recent reports are stating that the 28-year-old has turned down a contract offer from Manchester United. And the French club are preparing a new bid for the Frenchman.
Paul Pogba has had an inconsistent time at the Premier League club since making the move in 2016 for a club-record £94.5 million transfer fee. During this time Manchester United only managed to triumph a couple of cup competitions and UEFA Europa League. But, the Red Devils have not had any success in the past four campaigns.
Can Manchester United tie down Paul Pogba in a long-term contract?
Answering a question from Manchester Evening News journalist Samuel Luckhurst, the Red Devils manager said that the club and the Paul Pogba representatives are currently in talks over a new long-term contract. Solskjaer further stated that he is looking forward to the next season with the Frenchman. The Norwegian said:
‘The talks are ongoing between Paul’s representatives and our representatives. All the dialogue I’ve had with Paul is he’s looking forward to the season.’
Securing Paul Pogba’s future will be one of the main objectives for Manchester United this summer with strengthening the squad with new faces. The Frenchman has shown his value in the squad last season on numerous occasions, despite playing out of the position.
The Frenchman’s lack of eagerness and discipline to defend has forced Solskjaer to deploy Scott McTominey and Fred in midfield pivot. However, the speculative new formation from 4-2-3-1 to 4-3-3 could bring the best out of Paul Pogba next season.
So, it would be a better deal to sell the Frenchman. If he doesn’t want to prolong his stay in Manchester. However, Paul Pogba’s quality with the ball will be a huge miss for the club if he is to leave the club this summer. Therefore, it could be an interesting summer ahead regarding the midfielder’s transfer saga.
