Slavisa Jokanovic ready to return to football

About Football Express UK

Slavisa Jokanovic has decided to restart his coaching career and wants one of football’s hardest jobs. The former Serbian international managed Sheffield United during his last tenure.

Slavisa Jokanovic has become one of the Championship’s promotions specialists. He has led to the promotion of Fulham and Watford into the Premier League. Jokanovic led Watford to promotion in 2015. Moreover, Fulham went up under him in 2018 to the Premier League.

As a result, Sheffield United hired him in May to help them get straight back up. However, after just six months in charge, he was replaced by Paul Heckingbottom due to a lack of good results.

It was a difficult ask to bounce straight back especially after losing the likes of Aaron Ramsdale. Ramsdale left the club to join Arsenal in the summer. After losing such big names from the squad, it became difficult for him to bring favourable results.

Now the 53-year-old manager is ready for another challenge after Sheffield United. He knows exactly what it takes to get into the promised land. Adding to that, he still believes achieving something is one of the hardest jobs in football.

Slavisa Jokanovic on Championship

Jokanovic elaborated on the difference between Championship and Premier League.

“There’s a huge difference between the top six in the Premier League and the rest whereas in the Championship it is very even.

18 clubs start the season believing they can be promoted. This competition, the Championship, is one of the hardest in the world. There are a lot of up and down during the season.

“It’s an aggressive league, in one week you can win nine points, lose nine points, you have to be ready for the competition and the recovery.

“You can make calculations and know how many points you need not be relegated, get promoted, be calm, be ready for the next steps and find the best way forward.

“For me, it was still more difficult to stay in the Premier League than get promoted. The Premier League is different speed, harder and it’s a different challenge.

“But the Championship is still so tough. The intensity, the mistakes, it’s a challenge. It’s one of the most aggressive leagues in the world. It’s so tough.”

Slavisa Jankovic’s probable destination

As per Mirror, Jokanovic wants one of football’s hardest jobs. So it is expected that he might end up joining any EFL Championship club.
