Shaw ready to play for 90 minutes for England

Luke Shaw

England left back, Luke Shaw, is ready to play for 90 minutes or more for England at Euro 2024.

The Manchester United defender is the only pure left back in Gareth Southgate’s England squad. Unfortunately, he did not play most of the matches because of an injury. However, he did appear for a few minutes in the quarter finals against Switzerland. But as per BBC, Shaw can now play a full match for England.

Southgate eagerly wanted to start Luke Shaw from the start of the season. But Shaw’s injury prevented him to do that. The manager had no other choice but use one of his right backs Kierran Trippier as a left back.

England is ready to start Luke Shaw

England can finally start Luke Shaw in their first 11. This will be the first time that no player will be playing out of position in this English squad in this year’s Euro. The Manchester United defender is eager to start his first full game of this year’s Euro competition.

Of course, I think I am [fit and ready to play 90 minutes],” Shaw said. “That is down to Gareth’s decision. I feel fit and ready to go”, Luke Shaw when asked about his fitness.

The last four months have been really tough. At the start I was expected to come back a lot sooner, but I went through a lot of setbacks“, he further added.

The player himself confirmed that there were major setbacks which ruled out all the possibilities of him playing in the earlier stages of the competition. He hoped that he would be able to play for the Three Lions in the second or third match of the group stage. But, as we all know, that did not happen.

He is forever thankful to all the coaches and medical staff for his recovery.

They were really there for me, not just Gareth and Steve [Holland, England assistant manager] but the medical staff as well. I have a lot to thank them for“, Luke Shaw showing gratitude towards the management.

Luke Shaw observed closely by Manchester United

Manchester United will be observing their left back in the semi-finals. Shaw was unavailable for a long period of time due to his injury. United suffered a lot regarding their left back position last season. The Red Devils had to change their defensive patterns in almost every game. From buying players on loan to giving chances to young players to assigning players out of their position, Man United did it all. Now, they will be observing Shaw on how he performs in the semi-finals.

Shaw has always been very prone to injuries. He has missed many games in his Manchester United career. Should Man United look for another left back to replace Luke Shaw?
