Arsenal centre-back Gabriel Magalhaes could join Serie A club Juventus if Matthijs de Ligt departs in the transfer window.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Serie A outfit have identified the Arsenal defender as a prospect this summer. However, this transfer will only be facilitated if their Dutch player, de Ligt makes an exit from the club.
The London-based club are looking to secure the services of de Ligt to fill the void in the defensive position.
This is due to the fact that Antonio Rudiger and Christensen have departed to play in the Spanish League next season. Now as both the Blues defenders have exited the Bridge, Chelsea’s interest in de Ligt seems an obvious one.
Arsenal defender to join Juventus?
It appears like a huge doubt for the deal to actually go through as Gabriel was an important defender this season.
Creating chances with the set-pieces and going strength to strength in the back line helped the club in their campaign. With the defensive acumen Gabriel possesses, it would be difficult that Arsenal will let him leave the Emirates this summer.
Juventus’ interest in the centre-back has been for quite some time, the Turin-based club kept tabs on the player. However, nothing seems to have materialized and for obvious reasons, Arsenal may as well eliminate any offers for the defender.
The hunt for a centre-back will continue for Juventus as the Gunners will look to keep hold of the player. The Serie A outfit would hope de Ligt stays this summer for another season to help solve their defensive issues.
That said, the Gunners will do everything possible to keep Gabriel from leaving as will Juventus for de Ligt.
