Reece James has made progress in his hamstring injury this week. Reece picked up an injury against Liverpool at the start of the month.
The Chelsea squad has faced many injuries and also a COVID outbreak as well. This forced Thomas Tuchel to rush in Chalobah who was recovering from an injury as well. Reece James has had ample time to recover and might feature on the bench against Spurs.
Earlier it was assumed that he would require surgery and 6-8 weeks to recover. As of now he has been jogging and doing light recovery on the pitch this week.
How Reece James and his injury slowly led to Chelsea’s problems?
Reece James picked up an injury against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge at the start of the month. This was perhaps the start of a dry run of matches for Chelsea because they were running out of options.
The club faced Wolves with just 14 players with a COVID outbreak as well. Injuries and the outbreak rule out 7 players plus staff members as well. As a result of this, Tuchel had to field a team with players recovering from injuries.
Tuchel also requested a delay in matches because he felt his case was strong but unfortunately the Premier League carried out all fixtures.
N’Golo Kante, Kovacic and Chalobah had to play for The Blues after just one or two training sessions.
The Blues do have good squad depth but surely the services of Reece James and other first-team players would benefit Tuchel.
As of now Chelsea is still recovering and have been playing back to back matches making it difficult for them to perform consistently.
Comments from the Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel :
“We are mentally tired and physically tired. You can see it in our performance. It’s as easy as that,”
” This can happen and if you tell me that this never happened before to any Chelsea team or team in the Premier League, I can only laugh because it’s happened”
