PREMIER LEAGUE

Quarter Final opponents for all Premier League clubs in the Champions League

About Football Express UK

The quarter-final draw of the Champions League was held on Friday and all Premier League clubs already know their road to the final.

The semi-final draw also took place at the same time. Therefore, all the clubs are aware of their potential opponents in the semi-final and the final, if they go that far.

Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea are the three English clubs remaining in this competition. Manchester United were also in the competition but were eliminated by Atletico Madrid in the previous round.

Apart from three English clubs, La Liga also has three representatives – Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Villarreal – and the other two teams are Bayern Munich and Benfica.

Who are the opponents for the Premier League clubs in the Champions League quarter-finals?

All three Premier League clubs will be relatively happy with their opponents. As they managed to avoid playing themselves at this stage of the competition.

Chelsea will play against Real Madrid. These two sides met in the semi-final the last term where the Blues came away victorious by 3-1 on aggregate. The first leg ended in 1-1 at the Spanish capital, while Thomas Tuchel’s side defeated Los Blancos by 2-0 at Stamford Bridge. Therefore, the west London club will fancy their chances of overcoming the challenge of record Champions League winners.

Meanwhile, Liverpool got an easier opponent in the quarterfinals as they encounter Benfica. The Reds are favourites to go through to the next round. Meanwhile, Jurgen Klopp’s side will have to face the winner between Villarreal and Bayern Munich in the semi-final. If they get past the challenge of the Primeira Liga giants in this round.

On the other hand, Manchester City are set to face Atletico Madrid in the quarterfinals. The Citizens will be the favourites to progress through to the next round. And they will encounter the winner between Chelsea and Real Madrid in the semi-final.

The quarterfinal games will be played on the 5th and 6th of April. And the second legs will be in the following weeks on the 12th and 13th of April.
