According to the report in The Telegraph, PSG are confident in signing Manchester United ace Paul Pogba before the end of the transfer window.
The Red Devils bought their academy graduate back in 2016 for a club-record £94.5 million. However, the transfer has not gone as the Old Trafford faithful were hoping to experience. The world cup winner has not been able to produce consistent performance in his second spell in the Premier League.
The 28-year-old has consistently been linked with a move away from Manchester United over the last couple of seasons. And the rumours never materialise in reality. However, having only one year remaining in his current contract and refusing to extend a new deal with the club, this term it might happen.
Will Paul Pogba leave Manchester United this summer?
As per the reports in The Telegraph, the Red Devils are aware that PSG are preparing a bid for their star man Pogba. The French club are expecting to finalize a deal for around £43 million before the end of the transfer window.
The Red Devils are also reportedly ready to sell their talisman who has only one year remaining in his current contract and is not considering signing an extension. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side might ask for around £50 million. But they might have to settle for the aforementioned fee given the current contract situation.
Selling Paul Pogba might disappoint many Manchester United fans. But, it could be the right decision to cash in on the player. And invest the money in the defensive midfield position. The Frenchman’s best position is to play at the left-sided midfielder in the midfield three. However, neither José Mourinho nor Ole Gunnar Solskjaer deployed him in that position.
The Norwegian used him in that role during his interim period where the 28-year-old had his best goal-scoring season in his career. However, the Red Devils boss changed his system after securing the permanent managerial role. It was rumoured that Solskjaer will change his system to 4-3-3 this summer but they will need a defensive midfielder. So, it will be a good decision from Manchester United to sell Paul Pogba and bring in a defensive midfielder.
