Pundit Micah Richards commends a manager, formerly dismissed by Chelsea, Graham Potter. He expressed on ‘The Rest is Football’ his belief that Potter is an excellent coach, whose timing at Stamford Bridge was unfortunate.

Discussions about the managerial position at Chelsea persist, especially following Mauricio Pochettino’s recent loss.

Chelsea suffered a 4-2 defeat at home against Wolves, who secured a Premier League double over them. Calls for the manager’s dismissal intensified within the fanbase, with some expressing their dissatisfaction at the stadium.

What did Richards say about the previous Chelsea manager?

The Argentine was Potter’s permanent successor, who didn’t last through his debut season. Nonetheless, Richards asserts that Potter remains a top manager caught in unfortunate circumstances. He said:

“Potter, he was doing an outstanding job at Brighton wasn’t he? He gets the Chelsea job, it was probably too big of a time for him at that time, but he’s not going to say no to it. Now, people don’t think he’s good enough to manage a top club. He is! He just went to a club at the wrong time. I just think it’s all about timing and the media, we put them on a pedestal.”

Rumors suggest that some individuals within the club Chelsea are contemplating their options regarding the current leadership.

They are reportedly considering Xabi Alonso as a replacement, impressed by his success at Bayer Leverkusen. However, securing him might be challenging due to the upcoming availability of the Liverpool job.
