Another exciting Premier League game week comes to an end and it was quite an enjoyable weekend for the English football followers.
The league leader Chelsea dropped points against a struggling Manchester United side. Which closed the gap up top as the other contender’s Manchester City and Liverpool have won their games quite comfortably.
On the other side of the table, Newcastle United failed to win yet another game in the league and they are the only side who haven’t won a single game so far this season. The Magpies are in real danger of relegation at the moment.
Other teams who are fighting for their survival, Burnley who were supposed to meet Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday but the game was cancelled due to heavy snowfall.
Premier League game week 13:
Liverpool 4-0 Southampton:
The Reds hosted the Saints at Anfield stadium and came away with all three points with ease. The visitors tried to go toe-to-toe against Jurgen Klopp’s side and pressed high but the consequence of that is apparent on the scoresheet.
Liverpool were already three goals up at the interval thanks to Diogo Jota’s brace and Thiago Alcantara’s deflected attempt. After the break, Virgil Van Dijk scored yet another goal from a corner to register a comfortable victory.
Manchester City 2-1 West Ham United:
Although the scoreline does not reflect the story of the game, it was a pretty comfortable night for Pep Guardiola’s side in a snow storm. This is a different City compared to what we used to see in the past as they displayed a more pragmatic approach than their usual free-flowing football.
The Citizens had to wait until the 33rd minute to open the account and Bernardo Silva doubled the lead right on the 90-minute mark. However, the visitors scored a late consolation through a wonderful strike from substitute Manuel Lanzini which ruined the clean sheet for Ederson.
