Saul Niguez will leave Atlético de Madrid this summer if any club can match the Rojiblancos’ asking price as per the report in Spanish outlet Marca.
The 26-year-old was an integral part of Diego Simeone’s system at the Spanish capital. The midfielder was instrumental in the club’s success in the UEFA Europa League and UEFA Super Cup triumph back in 2018. However, the Spanish international has endured tough times in the last couple of seasons. Thus, has lost his place in the first eleven.
The reigning La Liga Champions gave a humongous nine years contract to the academy graduate back in 2017 which will run until 2026. The contract has a release clause of £128 million. However, the Rojiblancos are ready to let go of their asset for way less than the mentioned release clause.
Barcelona and Atlético de Madrid are currently in negotiations in a swap deal involving Griezmann and Saul Niguez. However, it is highly unlikely that this deal can happen given the steep difference in the salary of these two players.
