Potential summer transfers for Arsenal

About Football Express UK

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta already seems to be working on summer transfers after a disappointing winter window. The Gunners failed to bring in any new player while also letting go of a few.

The London side also failed to land two of their targets.

SPENDING SPREE FOR THE GUNNERS

Arsenal is planning to spend close to £180 million this summer. Billionaire owner Stan Kroenke has been impressed with the impact of recent signings. Kroenke will be backing manager Arteta, however, a lot depends on the team qualifying for the Champions League next season.

In case of not finishing in the top four, the Gunners might have to rethink their plans. The Champions League will play a major role in luring players.

Although, even if they fail to qualify Arsenal plan on raising the extra sum through sales. The London side plan on offloading a host of players to help fund their summer transfers.

Loanees Matteo Guendouzi, Lucas Torreira, Hector Bellerin, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Reiss Nelson, Alex Runarsson and Konstantinos Mavropanos are likely to be sold. While Alexandre Lacazette, Mohamed Elneny and Eddie Nketiah could leave, with their contracts expiring.

TRANSFER TARGETS LINED UP BY ARSENAL FOR THE SUMMER

Mikel Arteta is keen on getting three players this summer with the huge influx of cash he has been promised. The Spaniard intends to strengthen the striker position and has two key players in mind.

Real Sociedad’s Alexander Isak and Everton’s Dominic Calvert Lewin are the options he likes. The Gunners’ boss is looking for a target man, who holds up the ball well and helps in the build-up.

The London side couldn’t beat Juventus to the signing of Dusan Vlahovic while also not being able to complete the Isak deal. La Real was bent upon receiving Isak’s release clause of £77 million if Arsenal wanted him. The Gunners backed out of negotiations in hopes of returning for him again in the summer.

As for Calvert Lewin, Everton prices him at around £60 million. The Englishman has been a key player for the Merseyside club but has been off rhythm due to recurring injuries.

While Arsenal target Bruno Guimaraes was quickly snapped up by fellow Premier League team Newcastle United. Therefore, Arsenal has now turned their attention to Wolves’ Ruben Neves. The Portuguese talisman is valued at around £43 million and has been instrumental to Wolves. Arsenal wants to bolster their midfield with his addition. Neves is known to dictate the tempo of the game and would add improve Arsenal’s midfield.

FINAL VERDICT

While the departure of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang rounded off a disappointing window for Arsenal. It has left fans questioning whether they have enough squad depth to fight for a top-four finish. But Mikel Arteta has shown that their rebuild is on the right track after a shaky start to the season. The Gunners boast of some of the best young talents in world football right now and if the three aforementioned players are added to the roster Arsenal will be a team to look out for next season.
