Pep Guardiola ‘wants’ goal-scoring midfielders, as Manchester City ‘have an interest’ in 19-year-old

Manchester City

On deadline day, Manchester City were unable to complete a signing. However, Jack Gaughan and Tom Collomosse of Mail Online claim that the Sky Blues “maintain an interest” in Jude Bellingham and anticipate making a move this summer. According to reports, Pep Guardiola “wants” more goals from the midfield. City has become too dependent on Erling Haaland (27 games, 31 goals, 3 assists).

It’s understandable why Manchester City would be interested in him given that he ranks joint-second in the team for goals scored (4), assists provided (3), first for tackles made (3.1 per game), fourth for chances created (1 per game), second for interceptions (1.4 per game), first for successful dribbles (2.2 per game), fourth for most passes made (52.6 per game), and first for most fouls won (2.9 per game).

But Bellingham won’t be cheap. Three years ago, Dortmund paid £25 million for the midfielder, but they are now asking between £100 and £150 million. City has the resources to meet his asking price. But they’ll have to outbid Real Madrid and Liverpool for their business.

Manchester City in search of Jude Bellingham

According to sources who spoke with ESPN, Manchester City intends to upgrade its midfield. They will wait to see if Bernardo Silva and Ilkay Gundogan are expected to stay. They need to determine the amount of money needed.

If Jude Bellingham left Borussia Dortmund, Manchester City are keen on signing him. The Premier League winners will compete with Liverpool and Real Madrid, and the England midfielder will demand a transfer fee of over £100 million with some big add-ons. There is also recognition that, should Silva and Gundogan both depart, more than one new midfielder may be required.

The 32-year-old Gundogan is under contract at the Etihad Stadium till the conclusion of the current campaign, and he will wait before deciding whether to leave or stay. After six years at the club, Silva has made no secret of his desire to leave, and while Pep Guardiola won’t stop him if he’s set on leaving, Manchester City will demand a hefty fee. Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are both interested in the 28-year-old Silva, who has a contract that runs until 2025. The Camp Nou club made plans to sign Silva last summer.
