Pep Guardiola breaks Klopp’s record after Manchester City score 7

About Football Express UK

Pep Guardiola has established his own record after Manchester City thrashed Leeds United.

The Cityzens looked dominant since the match began. Not only did they manage to put past 7 against their opponents but Leeds failed to attempt a single shot on goal.

Just before half-time, Foden, Kevin De Bruyne, Jack Grealish scored three against Leeds.

Four minutes into the second half, Riyad Mahrez scored the 4th goal for Manchester City. Kevin De Bruyne then proceeded to score a banger which would be his second of the night.

Surprisingly even John Stones and Nathan Ake turned up on the scoreline. John Stones forced his shot in whereas Ake headed the ball in from a Foden corner. This 7 goal thriller wrapped up the night for Manchester City as they extended their lead on top of the table.

Foden’s 8th-minute goal established a goalscoring record for Pep Guardiola. Manchester City has now established a record of 500 league goals in 207 games under Pep Guardiola. Earlier Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool held the record for 500 goals in 234 games.

Even the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson who managed Manchester United took 265 games to reach 500 goals.

Let’s take a look at the players who have helped establish the record for Guardiola

Pep Guardiola is known for his incredible tactics and knowledge of the game. At the same time, he is also well known for creating monsters i.e unlocking players’ potential. Under him, many players who used to struggle have flourished and are still maintaining their eccentric form.

Guardiola and Manchester City worked hard to reach this goal-scoring record but a few players have been more than important, an absolute necessity.

Raheem Sterling, perhaps one of the most hated players last season is still important for Pep and has played Raheem 250 times, more than any other Manchester City player. Raheem Sterling has also scored 77 goals under Pep Guardiola.

Sergio Kun Aguero, the club’s biggest legend was in his prime, the best player in the league and one of the best in the world.
From the 2016/17 season when Guardiola took over, Aguero has scored a staggering 124 goals. Perhaps his presence was a major boost for Guardiola and the Cityzens to establish their record.

Kevin De Bruyne is and has been one of the best midfielders in the world. He has provided 92 assists under Guardiola.
