North London rivals lock horns for Leeds United winger Raphinha

About Football Express UK

North London clubs Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are set to rival for Leeds winger Raphinha in the transfer window.

The clash between the London clubs is a pretty well-known on-pitch rivalry in football. Now the two clubs, Tottenham and Arsenal are set to lock horns off the pitch for a potential transfer.

Arsenal submitted their first bid for Raphinha who is also a target for Tottenham. However, Leeds United rejected the initial bid posed by the Gunners.

The situation seems peculiar for the player as many clubs are circling around the winger to make a swoop. However, it appears as though Arsenal may be the frontrunners because of the bond shared between the player’s agent, Deco, and Arsenal chief Edu.

Raphinha interested in Arsenal?

Raphinha has a contract till 2024, however, the club has taken it that an exit is inevitable. Leeds lowered their asking price for Raphinha earlier last week.

However, Tottenham could be interested in Raphinha but they are also keen to make the signing of Richarlison possible. The interest has ramped up so much that clubs have been rivaling to secure the services of the player.

Moreover, the player’s agent has been in touch with FC Barcelona and prefers Spain as the winger’s next destination. However, despite not playing Champions League football, Raphinha seems interested in Arsenal’s project for the next season.

The Elland Road outfit were on the brink of relegation this season. The winger stepped up at the right time to help them avoid playing second-division football next season.

His vital role in the team has impressed clubs across Europe who are looking to obtain his signature. Antonio Conte has been creating a lot of noise in the transfer market making three important signings for Tottenham.

The probability of a potential move to the N17 club seems less but rivals Arsenal could hijack the deal. However, the player and his agent Deco prefer a move to Barcelona this summer.

That said, Barcelona needs to manage its finances in order to ensure the transfer goes through. It appears to be a long transfer saga for Raphinha that could conclude in the next few weeks.
