Newcastle United: Player Ratings vs Everton In EPL

Newcastle United vs Everton

Newcastle United beat Frank Lampard‘s Everton 3-1 in a much needed win that sees them escape relegation zone. We will be talking about Newcastle United and their player ratings.

Everton took a lead in the 36th minute of the game from a Jamaal Lascelles own goal. However the joy was short lived as Newcastle equalised within two minutes from another own goal, this time from Mason Holgate.

Ryan Fraser gave Newcastle the lead in the 56th minute as his side footed an effort and went through to ricochet off Pickford and in. And in the 80th minute, a majestic free kick from Kieran Trippier sealed the win for the Magpies.

Eddie Howe’s side climb to 17th in the league and 2 points off Norwich in the relegation zone.  Everton on the other side are just a point up in 16th with a game in hand.

NEWCASTLE UNITED PLAYER RATINGS

GOALKEEPER

Martin Dubravka (GK) – 6/10 – Made a couple of  important saves to restrict Everton to just one goal. But didn’t have to do much for most of the game.

DEFENDERS

Kieran Trippier (RB) – 8.5/10 – The star of the night, made both defensive as well as offensive contributions to propell Newcastle to victory.

Jamaal Lascelles (CB) – 6/10 – Scored an own goal and then technically made amends by seeing his thunderous header deflect off of Holgate and into the Everton net about 30 seconds later.

Fabian Schar (CB) – 7/10 – Made some good recoveries and clearances in an important game.

Matt Targett (LB) – 7.5/10 – Worked hard on the left flank and performed his defensive duties. Also was involved in the attack on a few occasions.

MIDFIELDERS

Joe Willock (CM) – 7/10 – Made multiple runs from midfield in addition to taking care of his defensive duties.

Jonjo Shelvey (CM) – 6.5/10 – As busy as always, but could’ve saw red in the first half for an absolutely daft tackle on Anthony Gordon. Bright on the ball and made some crucial interceptions.

Joelinton (CM) – 6.5/10 – His work ethic can’t be faulted as the midfielder had a defensively solid game while also trying to attack.

FORWARDS

Ryan Fraser (RW) – 7/10 – Scored the second and was generally very good down the right flank all evening.

Chris Wood (ST) – 6/10 – Clearly lacking confidence in front of goal at the minute. He did some important hold-up play but couldn’t grab a goal himself.

Allan Saint-Maximin (LW) – 8.5/10 – Ran Everton’s defence ragged all evening and set up the second goal. One of the most important players for Newcastle this game.

SUBSTITUTES

Jacob Murphy – N/A.

Bruno Guimaraes – N/A.

Javier Manquillo – N/A.

Neither of them played enough minutes to be able to make an impact.
