Newcastle United prioritize Kieran Trippier signing in January

Newcastle Trippier

Newcastle United is prioritizing, signing Kieran Trippier from Atletico Madrid in January.

The Magpies are having a horrible season after winning just one game. They are 18th in the table and are currently in the relegation zone.

Newcastle United can consider many big defenders as well since they have a lot of money. The Magpies have conceded 35 goals this season, more than any other club in the league.

According to Daily Mail, Newcastle United is set to make Kieran Trippier their first priority in January.

Trippier’s contract with Atletico Madrid will expire at the end of the current season. However, the report states that his contract will last one more year if Trippier is to start 20 games for Atletico Madrid.

Manchester United was ready to sign Kieran last season but was unwilling to pay £25 million. This implies that the player is open to coming to the Premier League.

As of now, Newcastle United will have to make do with what they have until the January transfer window begins. They are set to face Liverpool in their next match.

How Kieran Trippier can help Newcastle United

Kieran Trippier has played in the Premier League before with Tottenham Hotspurs. Ever since leaving, he has played Champions League football regularly and has a lot of experience.

When talking about experience, he has been a key player for Gareth Southgate. The England manager has often played Kyle Walker( naturally a Right-back) at Centre Back to play Kieran at RB. Kieran has scored in the semifinals of the 2018 World Cup and most recently assisted Luke Shaw in Euros Final.

Shaw celebrates after scoring in Euros 2021 final against Italy from Kieran’s cross.

Trippier has also played in the Champions League finals for Tottenham Hotspurs and was a key player for Atletico Madrid after they won the league last season.

Kieran definitely has great attacking traits, perhaps even better than his defensive ones. His quality crosses are very lethal and his ball progression is also excellent. It can be said that he is not world-class defensively but Kieran is very reliable.

Gareth often plays Kieran at Left Back over Luke Shaw to have a more reliable option defensively.

Overall Kieran Trippier has a lot to bring at Newcastle United and can hopefully help them from not getting relegated.
