Newcastle United announce Eddie Howe as their next manager

About Football Express UK

After being linked with almost every manager in the world, Newcastle United have finally decided to appoint the former Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe as their next manager, having dismissed Steve Bruce last month.

The 43-year-old has enjoyed a great time with his boyhood club where he served as a player and manager. Howe took the Cherries from fourth division to Premier League football and kept them in the top-flight for five seasons. However, eventually, his team was relegated from the Premier League in 2020.

After becoming the Magpies boss. The Englishman has expressed his joy to become the manager of this historic club and said on the club’s website:

“It is a great honour to become head coach of a club with the stature and history of Newcastle United. It is a very proud day for me and my family. This is a wonderful opportunity, but there is also a lot of work ahead of us and I am eager to get onto the training ground to start working with the players.

“I would like to thank the club’s owners for this opportunity and thank the club’s supporters for the incredible welcome they have already given me. I am very excited to begin our journey together.”

Can Eddie Howe keep Newcastle United away from the relegation zone?

Newcastle United are currently the only team in the Premier League that haven’t been able to register the first win of the season, despite playing 11 games in the league. They are currently sitting 19th in the league with five points and 5 points away from the safety zone.

The Magpies were trying to appoint big names after sacking Bruce but given the Toon’s priority is to save the relegation. The appointment of Eddie Howe could turn out to be an excellent acquisition for the St. James Park outfit.

Although the Englishman might not be an exciting proposition for the Newcastle fans, given the Englishman’s record in saving relegation. This appointment could turn out to be a shrewd decision by the Magpies hierarchy.

Newcastle would want to stabilise their stay in the Premier League before eyeing for the big prizes. So, Howe could be a perfect addition to the St. James Park outfit as he has a very good reputation for building youth. With the proper financial backing, the former Bournemouth boss could make a stable Magpies side. But, expecting big things just yet might be a huge thing to ask from this group of personnel.
