Roman Abramovic could be forced to sell Chelsea following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine as per the report in the English outlet Daily Star

The Russian billionaire bought the Premier League club back in 2003 and his tenure is at risk as Labour MP Chris Bryant has raised his voice in the House of Commons to ban Abramovic from owning the Blues.

It came to light following Russian President Vladimir Putin who is the friend of the Chelsea owner, who has invaded Ukraine. However, there aren’t any suggestions that Abramovic is involved in this situation.

The report claimed that investors and private equity firms from the USA have reportedly expressed their interest in buying the club if Abramovic is forced to sell. £1.5 billion have reportedly been the figure which the investors might have to spend to buy the world champions.

What will be the future of Chelsea if Roman Abramovic ends up selling the club?

The Blues have become one of the world’s forces in football since Roman Abramovic’s takeover back in 2003. Since then the Premier League giants have won five league titles, two Champions League trophies, two Europa League, several domestic cup competitions and a club World Cup.

Therefore, it might be disappointing for the west Londoners if Abramovic sells the club. On the other hand, as per the report, USA companies are showing interest in signing Chelsea. However, the English clubs haven’t had great success under the ownership of USA companies.

So, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the Blues. Meanwhile, following the World Cup triumph, Chelsea has yet another opportunity to win silverware this season. As they will go head-to-head against Liverpool on Sunday night in the Carabao Cup final at the Wembley Stadium.

Chelsea is currently out of the title race. As they are currently sitting in 3rd in the Premier League table with 50 points in 25 games. So, their main objective in the league is to keep hold of third place. Manchester United and Arsenal are closing the gap with Thomas Tuchel’s side. They are only four and five points behind the Blues respectively.
