Leicester City seemed to be placed in a better position as compared to last year as Wilfred Ndidi is set to join pre-season.
Ndidi was left injured away at Rennes which kept him away for the remainder of the previous season. However, the Foxes have good news ahead of the next season as the midfielder has recovered and joined the training.
The defensive midfielder has instilled confidence in the Foxes boss, Brendan Rodgers, with his impressive performances in his previous campaigns. That said, reeling from the injury this season, Rodgers lost one of his most trusted players in the squad.
Leicester City took to their official Twitter handle to share the return of the defensive midfielder.
Leicester handed boost before pre-season
The exclusion of Ndidi from the squad proved to be a big blow for the gaffer this campaign. Now, his return has handed Leicester a significant boost for the pre-season and the manager can turn to him.
Ndidi’s absence was clearly felt as the club saw a dip in their results ending eighth on the League table. The midfielder’s exclusion from the squad saw them win 33% of the matches as compared with 44% when he played.
However, with the new season about to begin in a few weeks, Leicester would hope to begin their campaign on a high. The gaffer will look to bring his plans to action and hope that the squad is in positive spirits.
The club has held talks with Ndidi’s representatives to extend his current deal and will surely continue. It may gain momentum in the coming days and an official renewal offer will be in place to sign.
Ndidi’s return on the pitch will also be a plus for his national team’s campaign in the 2022 AFCON qualifiers. In any case, after the long absence, Leicester fans and the player will hope for a positive start next season.
