Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta will be a busy man this summer. The Spaniard has asked owner Stan Kroenke to fund three new signings in the summer transfer window, according to reports.

The Gunners were the Premier League’s biggest spenders in the last summer window and look to continue on their spree. They are eager to land a new wave of talent when the window reopens.

ARSENAL LOOK TO FIX WINTER WINDOW

Arsenal had a nightmarish winter window when they couldn’t land their two top targets. Dusan Vlahovic chose to join Juventus while Arthur Melo didn’t move. The Gunners also couldn’t secure the deal of Real Sociedad striker Alexander Isak. To make matters worse they released club captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who joined FC Barcelona and loaned out Calum Chambers to Aston Villa.

All of that left their squad in a weaker position than before. The Gunners are short on players at the moment and are looking at the summer window to bolster their squad.

They have since been tipped to spend heavily in the summer to freshen up their ranks before the start of next season.

LIST OF ARSENAL TARGETS

A handful of players have been linked to the North London club. It seems like Arteta has wasted no time in drawing his plans for the upcoming season. The Spanish coach flew to the United States in January to hold face-to-face talks with Kroenke. A range of important topics was discussed in the meeting between the two. Arteta expressed his desire to sign three new players to strengthen his squad. This is according to reports from football. London.

It is said that discussions were mostly centred around the transfer market and early plans were drawn up with a view to the summer, although the report does not name any specific targets.

It seems likely that Arsenal will sign a first-choice striker. Both Alexander Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are set to become free agents at the end of the season.

In case both of them leave the club it would leave Florian Balogun as the only recognised marksman in the team. Therefore, Arsenal is desperate to land a new world-class striker at the club. They are hopeful of finishing inside the top four. The Champions League lure could be a deciding factor in getting a star signing for the Gunners. Several potential targets have been linked. They include Jonathan David of Lille, Real Sociedad’s talismanic striker Alexander Isak and Everton‘s Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Arsenal has also been tipped to make signings in midfield. They want to improve their current array of options and add a different profile to the centre of the field.

KEVIN PHILLIPS’ MESSAGE TO MIKEL ARTETA

Former England striker Kevin Phillips recently urged Arteta to pursue the addition of James Ward-Prowse from Southampton, who is often hailed for his consistently good performances and fearsome ability to make things happen from dead-ball situations.

In a recent interview with Football Insider he said:

“Technically he is a very, very good player and he’s a dead-ball specialist.

He’s the sort of player Arteta would love in his squad I imagine.

Could they get him out of Southampton? That’s the question.

He just signed a new deal and I think he’s happy there.

It would be a big test if Arsenal came knocking though, he could be persuaded to join.

He’d compliment [Thomas] Partey well and let’s be honest, there’s not many better set-piece takers than him in the world.”

Arsenal has also been linked to other players. The most interesting of them is Wolves’ star man Ruben Neves. The Portuguese have been on the Gunners’ radar for quite some time and a move cannot be ruled out this time.

Houssem Aouar has also been linked to them once again. The Olympique Lyon man also has a serious chance to be at the Emirates this summer.
