Michael Edwards to try and bring ‘most wanted’ manager to Liverpool

Liverpool Manuel

Liverpool are to announce their new Chief Executive of Football in the coming weeks. And the new official will have a lot on his hands according to the state of the club. Long term manager Jurgen Klopp will be leaving the club at the end of the season. Michael Edwards will have the challenge to bring a decent manager who can live up to the expectations at Anfield. Liverpool will also bring a new Sporting Director to the club, most probably Bournemouth’s Richard Hughes.

There are few big names in consideration to replace Jurgen Klopp as manager at Liverpool. These include Amorim, Nagelsmann and few other potential candidates. However, the one every Liverpool supporter wants to see as the successor to Klopp is Xabi Alonso. The German is wanted by Bayern Munich and potentially Real Madrid as well. Hence, It will be difficult the German to convince choosing Liverpool over these big European clubs.

Edwards will try to bring Xabi Alonso as manager at Liverpool

Alonso’s future at Liverpool is possible if he chooses to leave his current club RB Leipzig and choose Liverpool over Madrid and Bayern. However, Real Madrid will not pose a serious threat as of now because of Carlo Ancelotti’s successful tenure at the club. It’s Bayern Munich which will be the most probable destination for Xabi Alonso if Edwards fails to convince the German.

Journalist Dean Jones has told Give Me Sport that,

The big job facing Liverpool is to get a new manager sorted and that becomes the priority now. Yes it is important to have news on Edwards and Hughes but the guy that truly defines a football team and the success is the manager.

“I’m told Edwards is on board with the idea of appointing Alonso and that will be the initial objective. But he’s not the only name that has been talked about and so the likes of Amorim and Nagelsmann are still in the picture here I think.”
