Messi could be back at Barcelona!

About Football Express UK

Barcelona are looking at the possibility of bringing Messi back in 2023. He will be a free agent by then if he does not sign a new contract at Paris Sant Germain. The 34-year-old winger left Barcelona on a free transfer due to Barcelona having financial problems. He then left the club and signed a two-year deal with Paris Sant Germain.

Is Messi coming back?

He finished the 2021-2022 season scoring eleven goals and providing fourteen assists in 34 appearances across all competitions. However, he only scored six times in Ligue 1 and faced a lot of criticism for his performances. However, Messi has already confirmed that he will stay at the Paris Saint Germain next season. However, he has not confirmed if he will stay the season after that. His deal will run out in June of 2023. However, as part of the deal, he will have the option to extend for another 12 months. Should he chose not to pick this extension, he will be a free agent once again. Thus Barcelona will have the chance to sign him.

He said

“Next season will be way better for me with Paris Saint Germain, I’m sure. It was not easy after that crazy summer.”

“It was really difficult to understand what happened, I wasn’t expecting to leave Barcelona- it was a shock. I had everything in Barcelona. I went to Barcelona when I was young. I lived more in Barcelona than in Argentina. The truth is that I had no plans to change anything.”

“Luckily the adaption of the kids was good, but for Antonela and for me it was more difficult.”

Messi scored 672 goals and provided 302 assists in 777 appearances for Barcelona. Joan Laporta is looking forward to Messi’s return.

Even clubs such as Manchester City, Manchester United, and Chelsea are looking to sign Messi. Messi won 10 La Liga titles, seven Copa del Rey trophies as well as four Champions Leagues with Barcelona.

His career with them has been colorful and hopefully, he will return to them before he retires.
