About Football Express UK

Arsenal’s first signing of the summer in US international Matt Turner was accidentally announced on New England Revolution’s Twitter account. The deal is yet to be made public by Arsenal.

Arsenal missed out on Champions League football yet again as the club finished 5th in the Premier League table. While it looked like the club’s transfer budget could be cut quite short after missing out on the Champions League. But it was confirmed by Arsenal’s director Eduardo Gaspar that the club would be active in the transfer market. He also added that the club will be looking to add one or two new star players into the starting lineup.

Talking about the goalkeeper situation at the club. The gunners have two top goalkeepers at the club in Aaron Ramsdale and Bernd Leno. While Leno started the season as the club’s number one. But Ramsdale very quickly took over the no 1 spot. With the very limited game time, Leno is expected to leave the club in the summer.

To replace the outgoing German goalkeeper, Arsenal have signed US international goalkeeper Matt Turner for a reported fee close to £7.5 million. Turner looks set to act as a backup to Aaron Ramsdale.

“I’m looking forward to the opportunities”: Matt Turner on his move to Arsenal

Talking about his dream team and dream transfer, Matt Turner said;

“Towards the end of last year, my agent mentioned something about Arsenal getting in contact & having interest. He was like, ‘There’s this, this & this out there, a couple of teams in the Championship, but a ridiculously long shot that Arsenal is interested’.”

“That was his quote: ‘A ridiculously long shot’. Literally two days later, Arsenal comes in & throws in their first bid. At that point, I already made my mind up that I wanted to go. At the end of the day, everyone got where they needed to get & the deal got done.”

Talking about his switch from the MSL to the Premier League, Matt Turner said:

“I’m going to have an entire preseason to get comfortable, learn the system, learn the ropes. And I think there’s going to be a pretty busy fixture list in the beginning of the season.” Finally, I’m looking forward to the opportunities that will present themselves, and I just want to showcase the best of my ability.”
