Koulibaly bids farewell to Stamford Bridge

Mason Mount has been in negotiations with Manchester United over a possible departure from Stamford Bridge throughout this time. He has only 12 months left on the deal. Thus he has been anticipated to either sign an extension or be sold. After all three offers from Old Trafford were rejected and countered by Chelsea, the 24-year-old’s future remains as unresolved as ever. With conflicting messages from all three sides, the player is going to be in dilemma while he plans the next step of his career.

He is certainly not the only player in this situation. Christian Pulisic is also awaiting clarity on what will happen next in his journey. Romelu Lukaku and Conor Gallagher are also in doubt ahead of the start of the season. For the time being, they can be assured that they will not be playing alongside Koulibaly at Chelsea next season, after the club announced his move on Sunday. He joined Al-Hilal for £35 million ($44.5 million) this summer and is now one of the club’s new stars.

In a farewell message to Chelsea fans, the Senegal centre-back wrote:

“From my first game to my last, it was an honour to wear this badge. Last season wasn’t the one we wanted. But I want to thank the fans and everyone at the club for your support.”

The 32-year-old was one of the big-name summer acquisitions in the first Todd Boehly-Clearlake Capital window. He left the club having failed to fully integrate into the Premier League but recouping a decent amount of cash for the club.

Reece James and Mason Mount comments on Koulibaly’s farewell post
