Bertrand Traore

Manchester United will go head-to-head against Swiss champions Young Boys in the final group game of the Champions League on Wednesday night.

The Red Devils came away with all three points against Crystal Palace on Sunday where the Old Trafford faithful welcomed their new manager Ralf Rangnick. Fred scored the match-winning goal in the 77th minute.

Coming into this game, Manchester United are already qualified for the Champions League round of 16 as the group leader and on the other hand, David Wagner’s side are currently bottom of the group but a win on Wednesday could give them a spot in the Europa League if Villarreal beat Atalanta in the other game of this group.

Manchester United vs Young Boys: Preview

Manchester United lost to Young Boys in the opening fixture of this year’s Champions League where Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side were defeated by 2-1, despite leading the game in the first half. Therefore, Rangnick’s team will be eyeing revenge from this encounter.

Meanwhile, Wagner’s side are going through a difficult spell at the moment as they have suffered six defeats in the last 11 games in all competitions and won only two.

Following the departure of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Manchester United are enjoying a decent time as they have won three of the last four games in all competitions and only drew against Chelsea away from home. With some favourable fixtures are lying ahead for the Red Devils, Rangnick will be looking to win most of those games in order to turn the fortune around for the Old Trafford outfit.

These two sides have only faced three times before this encounter in the Champions League and United won two of those before the Swiss side enjoyed a sweet victory in the reverse fixture in this year’s Champions League.

The list of absentees for the away side is pretty big as David von Ballmoos, Cedric Zesiger, Christian Fassnacht, Jean-Pierre Nsame, Ulisses Garcia and Felix Mambimbi will not be able to take part in this game due to injury problems.
