Manchester United have presented their first offer for Frenkie de Jong. Barcelona will analyze this offer and decide upon it soon. Manchester United have been heavily linked with him. Even though Machester United are linked with him, he is keen to stay in Barcelona. 60 million pounds is the offer. 20 million are the add-ons. No deal has yet been agreed on but Barcelona are considering the offer. Barcelona wants to reduce their wage bill so they can sign new players. Thus they are taking this offer seriously. If Barcelona sells de Jong, then they will earn 40 million euros.
Manchester United moving fast
The 25-year-old midfielder will be reunited with his former manager. Thus he would be happy to move out. Currently, he has scored 13 goals in 139 appearances for Barcelona. Moreover, selling the player will definitely improve Barcelona’s financial situation. Manchester United are the favorites to sign de Jong and have made a good proposal to Barcelona. However, Barcelona might want around 80 million for the player. Manchester United is only offering 60 million.
De Jong is still under contract but Barcelona needs to improve their financial situation and thus are going to sell him. He has spent three years in Barcelona.
Louis van Gaal, former Manchester United manager, says that de Jong is worth at least 100 million pounds. De Jong is the preliminary target for Manchester United. He can bring in the quality that is needed at Manchester United. They are in desperate need of a good defensive midfielder. Thus de Jong is the right fit.
Manchester United are ready to pay a massive salary for de Jong to come and this might attract him to the club. Plus, Manchester United now have an ambitious manager who wants to make big changes to the club. De Jong will have a chance to play with his former manager again and with a superb team. He will also have the chance to play with his former teammate Donny van de Beek should he stay. Manchester United may not be playing Champions League football but they are still an attractive club to come to.
