Manchester United planning to offload Lindelof for a World Cup winner

Victor Lindelof

Allegedly, Manchester United may swap Victor Lindelof to acquire a World Cup champion next summer. Recently recovered from injury, Lindelof featured in United’s 2-1 victory against Aston Villa.

United invoked a clause, extending Lindelof’s contract until 2025, safeguarding his value before the original deal ended this summer. Lindelof, a regular starter until his injury, faces uncertainty with Varane’s return and Maguire’s resurgence.

A fresh report suggests that manager Erik ten Hag is open to Lindelof’s departure if it facilitates signing another center-back. Inter Live reports a potential swap deal option, linking Lindelof to French World Cup winner Benjamin Pavard for Manchester United.

Can Manchester United successfully secure Pavard?

Inter Milan, who acquired Pavard from Bayern Munich last summer, reportedly value him at €40 million and are reluctant to part with him.

Since his return from injury, the French international, renowned for his memorable long-range goal against Argentina in the 2018 World Cup, has been a consistent starter for Inter.

Last summer, Manchester United monitored Pavard and purportedly readied a bid for the 27-year-old. However, FFP constraints necessitated the sale of a center-back before making another acquisition.

This was another factor contributing to Ten Hag’s side abstaining from January transfers. Thus, forcing the Dutchman to rely on his current squad for the rest of the campaign.

Manchester United has a long way to go in their struggling campaign. They will need to secure a favorable spot in the league if they hope to land in successful transfers.
