Manchester United relieve Ole Gunnar Solskjaer of his managerial duties

About Football Express UK

Manchester United have sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after yet another horrible loss. This time The Red Devils did not only lose in big games but also lost to Watford. Watford thrashed them 4-1 and they scored 2 goals in extra time.

David De Gea made two penalty saves but even his heroics could not save United and ultimately Ole Gunnar. None of the players was up to their mark, and club captain Harry Maguire was sent off after receiving a red card. It is bizarre that the blame which should also go to the players is only put on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

As of now, Michael Carrick has taken over as interim manager.

Replacements for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer are :

Brendan Rodgers

According to The Sun, United have made contact with Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers. He is the favourite as of now to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as manager.

With Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, there was a meritocracy. He favoured players despite them not playing well. The top examples are Harry Maguire and Fred. If Brendan Rodgers is appointed, surely he will focus on playing the youth players more.

Zinedine Zidane

Zidane has been a successful player as well as a successful manager. He has a reputed name especially after winning the three-peat with Madrid. Zidane then returned to Madrid and also won the La Liga title with the Los Blancos.

Every United fan would certainly be happy with this appointment but unfortunately, it is not likely to happen. According to BBC, Zidane is holding out for a managerial job with the France national team. The report also states that his wife would like him to enjoy his vacation as of now.

Was Ole Gunnar Solskjaer completely at fault?

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is a club legend. He was indeed thrown into a job that he was not ready for. The incompetent board used him to shield their shortcomings.

The fans these days are too reactionary, Ole Gunnar received all the blame whereas the players went scot-free. Only a club like Manchester United would fire a manager and then interview him.

Ole steadied the ship for United, he gave life back to the fans. He got rid of deadwood and provided the next manager with a ton of valuable assets. Hopefully, in the future, Manchester United will look back at his stint and hold Ole in high regard.
