Manchester United: Christian Eriksen to join the squad in Melbourne

About Football Express UK

Christian Eriksen has had a verbal agreement with Manchester United which could see the former Tottenham player move to Old Trafford. According to reports, Eriksen could be moving on with the medical and join the squad in Melbourne.

Eriksen was away from football for a while as he suffered a cardiac arrest during the Euros earlier in 2021. The midfielder was out of the game for a while. However, he made his come back as he signed for Brentford in January. In 11 appearances for the Bees, Eriksen found the back of the net once and made 4 assists. The addition of Eriksen into the squad added a much-needed touch of class into the squad. Although he only made 11 appearances, Eriksen displayed his class every game.

However, Eriksen’s contract with Brentford was a short one, lasting only six months. The Dane is a free agent at the moment.

A touch of optimism

Brentford manager Thomas Frank believes he can convince Eriksen to stay with the Bees longer.

“Right now he’s not a Brentford player, but he’s not a player for anyone else either, It may well be that right now it seems to be a different place than with us, but let’s see now. I have to be optimistic, but I also read newspapers. Lets see what happens. I communicate with Christian, but we keep it to ourselves until he is either signed here or somewhere else.”

However, it is unlikely Eriksen will stay with Brentford any longer. Eriksen is one of the top players in the world, One who is expected to play in the top clubs around the world. Manchester United’s interest in Eriksen would definitely mean he is on his way to Old Trafford. Moreover, Erik Ten Hag is the manager and knows Eriksen beforehand. More importantly, Ten Hag rates the midfielder very highly and wants him in the squad.
