Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick has shown interest in signing Antonio Rudiger.
Rudiger’s contract is set to expire next June and several big clubs have enquired about him. Paris Saint Germain, Real Madrid are also looking to get the German international as well.
According to BILD journalist Christian Faulk, Ralf Rangnick is close to Rudiger’s brother and he has enquired for him.
Antonio Rudiger has played a key role for Thomas Tuchel. He was a crucial player as he helped Chelsea win the UCL last season. Even in the current season, he has displayed his defensive prowess and also has 2 goals and 4 assists.
The most important thing is that I feel happy here. I think if people look at it, they can see I’m happy.
“About the contract situation, I talk with the club. This is for nobody’s ears. It was how I said it would be after the Euros — there would be talks. There was a talk between Marina [Granovskaia, a Chelsea director] and my agent. We have the situation where we are at now and I have nothing to do with all the speculation. This is not in my mind. I’m focused on what I’m doing because this is why I wake up every morning.”
How can Antonio Rudiger improve Manchester United’s backline?
Manchester United have struggled this season. The Red Devils have performed inconsistently even the presence of Cristiano Ronaldo can’t help them. Their captain Harry Maguire is not helpful, the English international often makes mistakes. He has a few good performances and is very sloppy.
Victor Lindelof is certainly better than Maguire but a centre-back cannot perform alone. With Maguire at his side, Victor has often struggled. If it weren’t for David De Gea, United would have conceded a lot more.
Antonio Rudiger is extremely influential on both ends of the pitch. Defensively speaking, he plays with passion and aggression. While on the other side of the pitch, he makes good progressive passes, wins penalties and fouls as well.
Just recently, Rudiger won two penalties for Chelsea against Leeds United. It was because of his commitment towards the attack that The Blues won the game.
Rudiger is a player with great strength, pace and stamina as well. He is better than Harry Maguire and Ralf can trust him to safeguard the defensive line.
