Despite losing against Manchester City, the Manchester United board chose to keep Ole. As of now, the Norwegian is still the manager but the pressure is still on him. Cristiano Ronaldo has already saved him thrice but even he cannot keep on doing it.
According to the Daily Record, Zinedine Zidane is considering the Manchester United job. The Frenchman is interested in a reunion with Cristiano Ronaldo and Raphael Varane.
The report also states that Zidane’s wife would like him to stay out of the game a little longer.
This would not come as a concern to Manchester United fans because sooner or later Ole will go. Even the United board who have been incompetent till now will realise the truth. The truth is that Manchester United cannot win any trophies with inconsistent performances under Ole.
How can Manchester United line up under Zidane?
Under Zinedine Zidane, there will be numerous changes in the lineup. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has chosen to play Harry Maguire despite his poor performances. He cites the reason that the club needs a captain. Tuanzebe and Lindelof are both better than Maguire.
Zidane can play Varane and Lindelof which implies that Maguire will lose game time. Surely, Luke Shaw and Wan Bissaka will start under Zidane.
The main issue comes with regards to the Manchester United midfield. In the midfield, the Red Devils are stacked. It is bizarre that Jesse Lingard and Donny Van De Beek are not played under Ole. Zidane can play VDB in place of Fred at CDM. Pogba and Bruno Fernandes will definitely start.
In the attack, Lingard can provide competition to Rashford in the winger position. Even if Rashford does start regularly, Jesse can definitely replace Jadon Sancho. The youngster seems to be struggling and is yet to adapt to the tempo and physicality of the Premier League. Surely Zinedine Zidane will not hesitate to play Cristiano Ronaldo. He is aware of his tremendous goalscoring abilities, Ronaldo can be played as a lone striker upfront.
The Manchester United squad has great players, they only lack a CDM. Surely under the guidance of Zidane and better tactics, the Red Devils can flourish.
