Following a disappointing defeat against Liverpool in the EFL Cup, Leicester City will be travelling to Etihad Stadium to encounter Manchester City in the Premier League. 

Meanwhile, the Citizens will be coming into this game after a crucial midweek break as they have already been knocked out of the league cup competitions. So, Pep Guardiola’s side will be fresh coming into this fixture. 

After recovering from the Covid-19 outbreak in the squad, Brendan Rodgers deployed his strongest squad against the Reds in midweek. And he might carry on with the same team on Boxing Day. 

Manchester City is currently sitting at the top of the Premier League table with 44 points in 18 games. They are enjoying a great run in the league at the moment, having won eight games in a row. The Citizens are currently three points ahead of the second-placed Liverpool and could go six points clear at the end of this game week as Jurgen Klopp’s side’s game against Leeds United has been postponed due to a covid outbreak in the Peacocks squad. 

On the other hand, the Foxes have made a disappointing start to the season as they are currently ninth in the table with 22 points in 16 games.

Manchester City has won eight of the last 10 games against Leicester, including a 1-0 victory in the reverse fixture this season. And they are unbeaten in as many games at home in the league on Boxing Day. 

The Foxes came away victorious with the 5-2 result in this fixture last season. And Leicester has never won back to back games away from the Citizens. Meanwhile, The King Power club has won only one game on Boxing Day which came against Manchester City in the 2018-2019 season.

Team News:

Kyle Walker could be sidelined for this game along with Ferran Torres who is closing in on a deal to Barcelona. Guardiola likes to rotate his squad. And therefore, the Spaniard could bring Jack Grealish and Phil Foden back into the starting line-up. 

Leicester will be without Johnny Evans and Wesley Fofana due to injury. Caglar Soyuncu and Ricardo Pereira will also be sidelined for this encounter after picking up fresh injuries in the midweek.
