After winning 14 out of 15 games in all competitions, Manchester City will welcome Chelsea at Etihad Stadium on Saturday lunchtime in a crucial Premier League encounter.
Pep Guardiola’s side is currently enjoying a terrific season as they are already 10 points ahead in the Premier League from the second-placed Chelsea before coming into this game. The hosts have accumulated 53 points in 21 games in the league.
On the other hand, despite starting the season on a higher note, Thomas Tuchel’s side is currently in a crisis at the moment. As they have dropped eight points in the last five games in the Premier League. If they failed to win this game as well. Then the gap will get too big for the west London club to catch the Citizens.
Manchester City vs Chelsea: Preview
Manchester City has won the previous fixture at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea by 1-0. And if they can beat the Blues at home as well then they will do the Premier League double fourth time over the London club.
Thomas Tuchel’s side won this fixture last season. And if they can replicate the same then this will be their first consecutive away victory against the Citizens for the first time in over 10 years.
This will be the 50th meeting between these two sides in the Premier League. Manchester City won only three of their first 25 games against the Blues. But they have won 12 of the last 24.
This will be the second time when these two sides are meeting as the top two sides in this division. Previously this happened in 2015 where the second-placed City earned a 1-1 draw against the leader Chelsea.
Having defeated Liverpool by 4-0 in 2020 and won against Chelsea earlier this season, Manchester City is looking to become the fourth English team to win three successive games against the European Championship.
