Transfer News: Although Manchester City are relatively quiet in this January transfer window. It is looking likely that they have snatched yet another South American talent as they are closing in on a deal for Argentine starlet Julian Alvarez.
Meanwhile, the Citizens are monitoring another South American jewel as Pep Guardiola has reportedly sent scouts to watch Athletico Paranaense full-back, Abner.
On the other hand, Raheem Sterling was linked with a move away from the Etihad Stadium ahead of this season. Barcelona was among the teams who were created with an interest in the former Liverpool man. But, the Blaugrana have signed the 27-year-old’s fellow teammate Ferran Torres instead.
Therefore, the reigning Premier League champions are now prepared to offer a new contract to England International.
Manchester City transfer round-up:
Raheem Sterling:
ESPN is reporting that Manchester City is now willing to offer a new contract to Raheem Sterling whose current contract will expire at the end of next season. Pep Guardiola was reportedly open to allowing the Englishman to leave the club at the start of this season.
However, things have changed since and the Spanish boss is impressed by the 27-year-old’s performance this season and wants to keep hold of their star forward.
Brazilian youngster:
Manchester City is keen on signing a new left-back next summer and has set their attention on Brazilian youngster Abner. The 21-year-old has a £21 million release clause in his current contract with the Brazilian club until 2024.
Pep Guardiola’s side has sent scouts to monitor the youngster’s development. And the Citizens are eyeing the Brazilian starlet to fill the void in the fullback spot next season.
Morgan Rogers:
The youngster is reportedly attracting interest from Championship side Huddersfield Town and Nottingham Forest. The 19-year-old spent the first half of the season at Bournemouth, making 15 appearances. Meanwhile, the Cherries have a deal in place where the youngster could join Scott Parker’s side after the loan spell for around £15 million.
However, Huddersfield and Forest are eyeing a move for Rogers. Therefore, the Citizens could recall the youngster from loan and cash in on the 19-year-old sooner rather than later.
Manchester City is enjoying a great season and is looking likely to mount a title challenge yet again this season. They are currently nine points ahead of second-placed Liverpool. And it is looking unlikely that the Red Devils would be able to bridge that gap.
