Jack Grealish marked his Champions League debut with a goal and an assist as Manchester City beat RB Leipzig 6-3 in a nine-goal entertaining encounter at the Etihad Stadium.
Pep Guardiola’s side made a terrific start to their UEFA Champions League campaign with a bang. Both the Group A teams Manchester City and RB Leipzig had a thriller encounter through their attacking football which consisted of nine goals.
Out of the nine goals, for Citizens, all the six goals came from different players. On the other side, all three goals came from their midfielder, Christopher Nkunku.
For Manchester City, Nathen Ake starting the proceedings in the 16th minute and the goal was assisting by the England international, Jack Grealish. The second goal was an own goal by defender Nordi Mukiele in the 28th minute. The third goal for the Premier League champions came just before half-time. Manchester City was given a penalty in the 45+1 minute and Riyad Mahirez converting the penalty.
In the second half, the debutant left winger opened his account in the Champions League in the 56th minute. The right-back Joao Cancelo curled home a beautiful effort just 82 seconds later after Jack’s goal. The sixth and the last goal from their side in the 85th minute by Gabriel Jesus.

On the opposite side, for RB Leipzig, their midfielder, Christopher Nkunku scored a hattrick. He did so by scoring his first goal in the 42nd minute, his second goal in the 51st minute. Christopher Nkunku scored his third goal in the 73rd minute. Out of his three goals, one came in the first half and the other two came in the second half.
There were five yellow cards and one red card given during the match. One yellow card went to City and the rest of them went to Leipzig. For Manchester City, Olexander Zinchenko got a yellow card in the 12th minute.
For Leipzig, Jose Tasende Angeliño got two yellow cards in the 58th minute and 79th minute which converted into a red card and he will be missing the next few games of the Champions League. The other Leipzig players who got a yellow card were Lukas Klostermann and Tyler Adams in the 45+1 and 49th minute respectively.
Manchester City is sitting at top of Group A after the opening fixtures as French Ligue giants Paris Saint Germain were surprisingly held 1-1 by Club Brugge.

Both the teams’ Manchester City and RB Leipzig will be playing their matches on Tuesday, September 28, 2021. Man City would be facing PSG at Le Parc des Princes, PSG’s home ground. On the other side, Leipzig will be facing Club Brugge at their home ground, Red Bull Arena.
