The midfielder has proven his versatility and is enjoying a great start to the season. He has said that he has no immediate plans to leave the Cityzens.

When asked about Benfica, Silva has told Portuguese newspaper Bola that

“Training and presiding doesn’t make sense. Play? No doubt, if they want me there.”

Currently, Bernardo Silva has a contract with Manchester City till 2025. The Portuguese are a graduate of the Benfica academy but only made three appearances for them.

How important is Bernardo Silva to Manchester City?

Bernardo has been very underrated over the years at City. This season he is performing exceptionally well with his best performances against Watford and Liverpool. Against Liverpool, he was not able to score but in terms of playmaking, he was the best. After an exceptional start to the season, many even compared him with Salah.

His through ball to assist after dribbling the past 4 Liverpool years has earned him the title of “Portuguese Messi”. Against Watford, he scored a volley as The Cityzens look to push for the title race.

Ever since David Silva left and KDB was injured for a while, Silva has stepped in for Manchester City when needed. This has earned him a starting XI spot and often plays on the right side just behind Foden.

Pep Guardiola Even stated that

“He’s just took his game to the next level, every time that De Bruyne is injured he steps up,”

Silva is extremely consistent for Manchester City and is adapting very well to Pep Guardiola’s demands.
