Man United player ratings for exceptional 3-0 win over Brentford

About Football Express UK

Manchester United have basically confirmed their place in the Europa League next term as they secured an exciting 3-0 victory over Brentford in the Premier League.

Brentford started the game on the front foot and tried to take the game to the home side. But Manchester United took control of proceedings very quickly. The home side scored in the 9th minute with Bruno Fernandes scoring from a brilliant Anthony Elanga cross after his run in behind the Brentford backline was found perfectly by Diogo Dalot. Brentford created a few half-chances of their own through Christian Eriksen. Cristiano Ronaldo scored right at the scruff of halftime. But the goal was ruled out due to a close offside call by VAR.

Manchester United controlled possession yet again in the second half. Ronaldo earned a penalty and converted from the spot in the 61st minute to record his 18th goal in the Premier League this term. Raphael Varane scored from a corner in the 72nd minute to hand the home side the 3-0 win.

Manchester United player ratings

David de Gea 7

A very calm evening for the Spanish goalkeeper. But he still made a couple of saves from Christian Eriksen.

Diogo Dalot 7

Dalot played a brilliant long pass to Ronaldo early on and played the pass in behind for Elanga and he looked very solid defensively.

Victor Lindelof 7

Lindelof looked very solid in defence and made a couple of good interceptions and won a few headers.

Raphael Varane 8

He scored the 3rd goal of the game and was very calm in possession and defensively.

Alex Telles 7

It looked like he finally found his Brazilian passport as he showed his trickly feet down the left flank and grabbed the assist for the Varane goal.

Scott McTominay 5

One again useless in possession. But he did use his strength and height well against the Brentford midfield.

Nemanja Matic 6

Started his last outing at Old Trafford and he looked very calm in possession and played yet again a brilliant pass in behind for the forward line.

Bruno Fernandes 6

Started on the left flank and drifted all across the pitch and recorded the opening goal of the game in brilliant fashion.

Juan Mata 8

The Spaniard magician surely deserves another contract extension after that performance. He was class in possession and found spaces in between the midfield and defence brilliantly.

Anthony Elanga 7

The Swedish winger spend most of his time on the ground. But he did grab the assist for the Bruno Fernandes opener.

Cristiano Ronaldo 8

Recorded his 18th goal of the Premier League season with the penalty in the second half. He will still be disappointed as his goal was ruled out by VAR in the first half due to offside.
