They’ve spent months trying to extend his contract, which expires in 2024, but have been unable to do. The youngster unhappy with the perspective put on the table by the club,

While Ajax are unhappy with the demands from his environment.

Man City currently is on another level

After months of wrangling, they have no decided not to put any more energy into the matter and a contract extension is now out of the question.

They’ve made their stance clear by blocking him from training anywhere

And if clubs come in for him on deadline day, he’ll be allow to move.

That should interest Man City, who have been consistently linked with the youngster since last summer and been watching from the sidelines as his contract situation has rumbled on.

Whether they make a move on deadline day is debatable, but the opportunity is there nonetheless,

With Ajax now happy to just get the training allowance and solidarity compensation

They’d be due should he move to Man City or anywhere else.

Reds boss Maciej Skorza said: “They are the best team in the world in my opinion,

But our plan didn’t work in the perfect way.

“We expected that possession would be huge in favour of Man City. We had our plan for counter-attacks, but this didn’t happen.

“Maybe this is the big difference in the physical aspect between the two teams and lack of experience of playing teams like City.”
