Man City star’s transfer still causes frustrations for Dortmund director

Man City have a habit of spending big for their players and getting who they want. There have been some big money signings from the Manchester side in past years. City also seem to get every transfer make the most of their talent for the club. Their signings have rarely not performed over the years. One of the most expensive and important player they brought was Erling Haaland. Haaland has since then established himself as one of the best players in the world. However, his transfer to Man City still frustrates the director of Borussia Dortmund, his former club.

Dortmund’s director still frustrated over Haaland transfer to Man City

Haaland arrived in Borussia Dortmund from RB Salzburg for a €20 million transfer fee. He stayed at Dortmund for a period of two years. In these two years Erling became one of the best strikers in Bundesliga and Europe as well. Haaland scored 86 goals and 23 assists in 89 games for the Bundesliga side, quickly making a big reputation for himself. The Norwegian left Dortmund for €60 million in 2022 to join Man City. He reportedly had an exit clause which allowed City to secure his signing for a relatively small fees. Dortmund’s director Sebastian Kehl said in an interview with Sport 1, as quoted by Fussball News,

“With Haaland you could certainly have earned twice as much if he hadn’t had this exit clause,

“Of course, we tried to invest in the squad. And some transfers didn’t work either. Nevertheless, we want to continue on our path to attract top talent.”

Erling Haaland’s Man City career

Since his arrival in Manchester, the Norwegian has scored 80 goals and 15 assists in 84 games for the club in all competitions to date. For a €60m price tag in 2022, that may have been one of the most efficient football transfer in the world.
