Man United

Man City are now keen to sign French wonderkid Bastien Meupiyou from Nantes – with Tottenham also interested.

That is according to Fabrice Hawkins of RMC Sport.

So, what is the situation involving Man City and Bastien Meupiyou? Let’s take a look…

Well, Txiki Begiristain has already constructed one of the best squads in Europe for Pep Guardiola, with the Spaniard now focusing on the next generation.

Man City want Bastien Meupiyou next season

Well, Txiki Begiristain has already constructed one of the best squads in Europe for Pep Guardiola, with the Spaniard now focusing on the next generation.

Man City Director of Football has sealed a £26m deal for Argentinian wonderkid Claudio Echeverri,

And is now setting his sights on Meupiyou – according to Hawkins.

However, a deal for the 17-year-old seems unlikely to happen before tonight’s transfer deadline, with a summer move more realistic.

Hawkins wrote on X (previously known as Twitter): “Tottenham and Manchester City monitoring Bastien Meupiyou. The French defender will stay in Nantes.

“Lens made an offer this winter. Rejected by Nantes who wants to extend his contract (June 2025). One to watch next summer”.

It comes as no surprise that Manchester City are monitoring Meupiyou

He is making great progress for someone aged just 17.

The France U18 international was even handed his Ligue 1 debut by Pierre Aristouy back in September, against one of the nation’s giants in Marseille.

Unfortunately, Meupiyou received a straight red card after just nine minutes,

And has not made another appearance in Ligue 1 since.

However, the fact someone so young was trusted to start such an important match speaks volumes about just how highly rated the Paris-born sensation is.

Meupiyou can also operate in defensive midfield, and his profile as a left footed defender has led Football Talent Scout to compare him to Chelsea No.5 Benoit Badiashile.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Manchester City could bid for the Frenchman this summer.
