Luiz Diaz could be on his way out from Liverpool

Luiz Diaz

Luiz Diaz signed a five-year contract with Liverpool in January 2022. The winger had a brilliant debut season by scoring five goals and providing three assists to the team. Moreover, he eventually became a significant player for Liverpool’s side. The Colombian international missed seven months last season due to an injury but his form has been great in the last few months. However, despite his fine form in recent months, the 27-year-old could likely move away from Liverpool.

Why is Luiz Diaz linked with a move away from Anfield?

Despite his ten goals and five assists this season, Liverpool are open to listening to offers for the Colombian winger, according to reports. It is claimed that, if an agreement of a contract extension is made for Salah, Diaz could leave Anfield. Additionally, the winger has already gained interest from many Spanish clubs. Arsenal legend Ray Parlour believes that financial fair play could be a reason for Liverpool to sell the winger.

While speaking to talkSPORT Ray Parlour said,

“Well, if they can keep Salah, certainly. You’ve always got to look at the financial side of it now.”

The former Arsenal player further added,

“Clubs will have to start doing deals now just to keep it ticking along and you might have to lose certain players in certain teams which you probably don’t want to lose. But, you’d rather lose him than you would Salah, if you know what I mean.”

Parlour also mentioned that with Jurgen Klopp’s departure, whoever gets the job next will be without worry because all the youngsters are out there performing. Moreover, Liverpool’s academy players are coming through with confidence.

Ray Parlour explains why Liverpool could benefit from the Colombian winger’s exit

Ray Parlour explained that if Liverpool want to renew the contracts of players like Mohamed Salah and Virgil Van Dijk, they are going to need to free up some money. Additionally, with the financial fair play rules becoming stricter, Luiz Diaz could help the Reds balance their funds. Moreover, even the Colombian winger could profit from the offers that will come from top clubs.
