Liverpool’s “panic buy” starred in the Carabao Cup win

Liverpool emerged victorious in the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea on Sunday. Securing the win with a solitary goal from their captain, Virgil van Dijk, in extra time.

The triumph came despite facing a significant challenge as half of the senior team was sidelined by injuries. However, young academy players stepped up to the plate.

They delivered impressive performances that earned them widespread praise, including from manager Jurgen Klopp himself.

It wasn’t all about the young blood, though. Alongside the imposing presence of van Dijk, experienced midfielder Wataru Endo also shone brightly, leaving a lasting impression on everyone.

one of those experienced players, Wataru Endo, caught the eye of ex-Liverpool defender Phil Thompson.

Speaking about the Liverpool win on TalkSPORT on Monday morning he said

The injuries are going to be massive, you just look yesterday, it was a dreadful tackle on Gravenberch which he had to go off, he was stretched off. Allegedly, Endo who was unbelievable by the way yesterday, what a player he is, left the stadium in a boot,”

Liverpool bought Endo around 15m from German club Stuttgart FC in the summer.

The Japanese star is one of the more undervalued players in this squad but he showed yesterday. He has done in recent weeks, that he is vital to this team.

Liverpool signed Endo in the summer as something of a squad player but over time, he’s shown that he’s now a player who might be hard to drop for the German coach.

As Thompson says, Endo’s performance here was unbelievable and on the biggest stage of them all.

This is Jurgen’s last season in charge of Liverpool. He has announced that he will at the end of the season. Liverpool players will be looking to win trophies this season.
