Liverpool is reportedly ready to remove three players from the Premier League squad following the arrival of Luis Diaz from FC Porto as per the report in English outlet Mirror.
After scouting intensely over the past few campaigns, the Reds have finally decided to sign the Colombian forward Luis Diaz. Meanwhile, English rival Tottenham Hotspur were keen on securing a move for the 25-year-old in this January transfer window.
However, the Lillywhites’ interest has forced Jurgen Klopp’s side to finalize a deal in the winter transfer window. The Reds have reportedly agreed to a deal of around £37 million with the Portuguese club.
Following the arrival of Diaz Liverpool now have to remove some overseas players from their squad. As per the rule of the Premier League, one team can only register 17 foreign players.
The Anfield club has reportedly set to remove their 2018 Champions League final’s villain goalkeeper Loris Karius. The German hasn’t played for the Merseyside club since the horror display at the capital of Ukraine.
Will Diaz be a good fit for the Liverpool squad?
Luis Diaz could be a very good addition to the Liverpool squad. The winger is quick, can dribble past the opposition defenders in tight areas and also has an eye for scoring goals. Therefore, the Colombian has the attributes to become a world-class forward at the Merseyside club.
Meanwhile, with Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino approaching their 30s, it is necessary to think about the future and sign the successors of those players. Diogo Jota has already started to take over the Brazilian in the centre forward position. And Diaz might also be looking to do the same as the Senegalese forward hasn’t had a great time this season.
So, signing the Colombian will create competition in places for Jurgen Klopp’s side which will benefit the club to win big prizes at the end of this season. Liverpool is currently in the title race with Manchester City, despite trailing to the Citizens by nine points with a game in hand.
On the other hand, the Reds are among the favourites to win the Champions League this season. Therefore, given they have already reached the final of the EFL Cup. The Merseyside club could dream about winning a few important silverware at the end of this season.
