Liverpool sets huge transfer fee for forward rumoured to leave

Liverpool are busy off the field with the arrangements for next season and a farewell for Jurgen Klopp. Amongst these arrangements, there are talks of major squad overhaul. With many main players of the team rumoured to leave and some promising arrivals. There have been talks of transfer deals for many star players, including Salah, Thiago, Matip and few others. However, the one that is catching headlines right now is the talks of Luis Diaz’s transfer. It was earlier reported that the player is going to be put on the transfer list and Reds are waiting for a suitable offer. But recent reports give a shocking number to the expected transfer fees for the Colombian winger. A report by Fichajes claims that the Reds have set €140 million for the 27-year-old. This might be excessive and it would be interesting to see who would pay such sum for the player.

Liverpool might be overvaluing the forward

Luis Diaz has been consistent and good for the Reds. He has scored 10 goals and 5 assists in 36 appearances this season in all competitions. Although he had been out for sometime due to a personal issue regarding his family. Despite the break, the stats show the performance of the player this season. And it would be highly unlikely if a top European club would pay such sum of money for the winger. The player is 27 years old and certainly not getting any younger. Meanwhile, it would be more beneficial for Liverpool to keep him rather than selling him. As Mo Salah is rumoured to leave the club for Saudi League, Liverpool would have Luis Diaz left as a natural winger. The player is already settled at the club and is consistent for the Reds, hence it would be beneficial for them to keep him.
